Kobashi Studio Japanese Chrysanthemum Bandana Red "Shinku"
The Kobashi Studio Modern Classic Kikumon Bandana showcases exquisite Japanese textile artistry. Crafted in Tokyoby a scarf company established in 1918, this bandana merges traditional techniques with modern aesthetics. Made from 100% cotton, it is silk-screen printed and dyed using a method that allows the rich pigment to soak through to the reverse side. The color is a traditional Japanese red “Shinku” Deep and brightly dyed safflower-dyed Japanese red. Hand illustrated by Junichi Kobashi, modernized a very old Japanese chrysanthemum pattern.
The design, hand-illustrated by Junichi Kobashi, features bold white chrysanthemum blossoms in full bloom, surrounded by intricately detailed leaves and delicate berry-like buds. The flowers are rendered with clean, symmetrical petal arrangements, while the leaves are filled with fine hatching lines that add texture and depth. The composition flows organically across the fabric, creating a sense of natural rhythm and quiet elegance.
Presented in a traditional Japanese wax paper envelope, this bandana is both a practical accessory and a piece of wearable art—paying tribute to Japan’s rich textile heritage and refined modern design sensibilities.
