Pherrow's 407J-SW Type II Denim Jacket
The Pherrow’s 407J-SW Type II Denim Jacket is a faithful reinterpretation of the iconic mid-century workwear jacket originally produced between 1952 and 1962. While rooted in vintage American design, Pherrow’s refines the silhouette with subtle updates that make it especially wearable today.
Crafted in Japan from 13.5oz original selvedge denim, the fabric is woven at low tension using a carefully balanced blend of American and Australian cotton. This construction recreates the natural tones and vertical fading seen in vintage denim, allowing the jacket to develop a rich patina and character over time.
The design retains the essential details of the classic Type II jacket, including the front pleats and symmetrical flap chest pockets. At the same time, Pherrow’s has slightly extended the body length and refined the armholes, giving the jacket a sharper and more contemporary profile while preserving its heritage DNA.
Authentic finishing details further reinforce its vintage inspiration. The jacket features original metal buttons engraved “STORMY BLUE & CO.”, Pherrow’s historic denim line branding. The paper patch references later vintage models and adds an extra touch of period-correct authenticity.
The denim is finished with Pherrow’s proprietary Starched Wash (SW) process—where the jacket is washed and then lightly starched. This technique gives the denim a crisp, raw-like appearance while ensuring no future shrinkage.
Fit Notes: This model fits true to size for Pherrow’s and most Japanese brands. Compared to most global American brands, a size 42 fits similarly to a Large. As always, we strongly recommend checking our size chart and comparing it with your best-fitting jacket to find the perfect size.
