Samurai Jeans SWS-SC01 Japanese Cotton Sweatshirt Kuromame
The Samurai Jeans SWS-SC01 sweatshirt is crafted from Samurai’s proprietary Japanese cotton, spun into a rugged #10 slub yarn using the same spinning philosophy as the brand’s legendary 17oz Zero denim. The result is a heavyweight sweatshirt fabric with exceptional texture, depth, and durability—unlike anything found in conventional fleece.
The Samurai Cotton is grown, harvested, and handled entirely by hand in Sasayama, Hyogo Prefecture, without pesticides or chemical fertilizers. The yarn is then woven in Wakayama on vintage looms before being sewn in a traditional workshop in Kyoto. Construction is executed using a 2-needle binder neck, with all seams finished on a 1960s Union Special 36200 flat seamer, ensuring strength, flexibility, and long-term wear.
This hoodie balances a dense, denim-like exterior texture with a comfortable interior, offering warmth, structure, and a uniquely organic feel that evolves beautifully over time.
The Kuromame version is naturally dyed using the juice of locally grown black soybeans from Sasayama—an ingredient traditionally discarded in food production. This eco-conscious dyeing process produces a deep, muted charcoal-brown tone with subtle variation and a distinctly organic appearance. Over time, the color develops gentle nuance while maintaining its rich depth.
Fit Notes: This hoodie runs smaller than standard American sizing. If you normally wear a size M in American garments, we recommend choosing a size L in this model. As body types vary, we always suggest checking our size chart to ensure the best possible fit.
