Samurai Jeans SWS-SC03 Japanese Cotton Sweatpants Dark Kuri
The Samurai Jeans SWS-SC03 Kuri Dark Sweatpants showcase Samurai’s mastery of natural dyeing and their uncompromising approach to fabric development. Crafted from premium Japanese cotton and knitted using an uneven #10 slub yarn, the fabric shares the same spinning philosophy as Samurai’s iconic 17oz “Zero” denim, delivering extraordinary texture, depth, and tactile presence.
The Kuri Dark colorway is dyed using extracts from the astringent skins of Tamba chestnuts, a prized local specialty of the Sasayama region in Hyogo Prefecture. This traditional dyeing method produces a deep, earthy brown tone with rich nuance—natural, understated, and impossible to replicate synthetically. The color sits somewhere between dark brown and charcoal, with subtle variation that enhances the fabric’s rugged character.
As part of the Samurai Cotton project, the cotton used is grown, weeded, and harvested entirely by hand by Samurai’s team, loyal customers, and local farmers—without the use of pesticides or chemical fertilizers. The yarn is woven slowly on vintage looms in Wakayama and constructed in an old sewing workshop in Kyoto, ensuring authenticity at every stage of production.
The result is a pair of sweatpants that feels unlike anything else: dense yet soft, rugged yet comfortable, and full of life. With its deeply textured fabric and naturally dyed finish, the Kuri Dark version is a true expression of Samurai’s philosophy—garments built slowly, honestly, and meant to be worn for years.
Fit Notes: These sweatpants run true to size with a comfortable, relaxed silhouette. If you typically wear a size M in American sweatpants, we recommend choosing a size M. For a roomier fit, consider sizing up. As always, please refer to our size chart to ensure the best fit.
